Game Play

I am getting very interested in playing games now, and for the most part I am pretty good with following the rules. I play matching/memory games, a board game or two and the occasional puzzle.

These are some pictures of Dad and I playing Candyland.

Snack Time!

As is widely known in these parts, eating is one of my favorite activities...
even at school!

Date Night

Once a month, my parents and Aidan's parent's alternate having a 'date night'. Aidan and I get our own play-date night out of the deal, which we always look forward to.

April was our night to host Aidan while his parents enjoyed some grown-up time. Kid time was great too.

Workin' it.

Here I am at school getting out the new work I was recently shown - metal insets.

Each evening at the dinner table, mom and dad and I trade stories about our day. We report on one good thing and one not-so-good thing that happened in our day. Being shown a new piece of work always makes my 'good thing' report.

Bath Buds

My buddy Clara came this weekend for a sleepover! (Her mom and dad came too.)
We had a great time - we went to the park, we watered the garden, we ate lots of snacks and we negotiated sharing.

Actually I was a bit bossy and my mom told me that Clara is only 2 and she doesn't have to listen to everything I say. I spent quite a bit of time with my hands on my hips and a scornful look on my face.

But then it was bath-time and all was forgiven. We had a lot of fun playing together in the bath, making silly faces, animal noises and brushing our teeth. This was the first tooth-brush in a long time that I didn't put up a big fuss about. This weekend I was the big girl.

I was a good setting a good example for little Clara.

Nest Egg

(me in my "nest")

There is a robin who has busily gone about making himself a nest right outside our back door. Mom and I watched him for ages yesterday morning before school as he worked hard gathering twigs and dried grasses and arranging them just so.

I learned a new word for a concept that I am very familiar with.
Disagreeing.

You see, mom and I had a debate about whether the busy robin is a mommy or a daddy bird. I think the hue of the robin's breast is more orange (meaning it's a mama bird); mom thinks it's a red breast (indicating a papa).

Mom said that we disagree and that's okay. She said we can each have our own ideas about it and we don't have to think the same thing.
We can disagree.
(I agreed).

School Fun

(here we all are doing downward dog with Lisa, the yoga teacher)

(this is the back of my head, listening to a story from Miss Hester, the storyteller. She did one 'tell' story and one 'read' story this week)

(more yoga - this is the mouse pose. I am observing)

I am a lucky kid to go to such a great school. I am excited about being one of the big kids next year who goes to school for the whole day. Mom asked me what the best thing about being one of the big kids will be.
"Helping the other kids with their work", I said.

These are some pictures of yoga and storytelling at school this past week.

Choices

Now that I am 3 I can make more decisions for myself.
Mom and dad try to give me options so that I can make choices, which I appreciate although sometimes the scope of the options provided are less than satisfactory.

I am learning. Fast.

The other night as I drifted off to sleep in the meek, quiet way that is my hallmark,
I bellowed up to my wonderful, patient mother...

"Mom, you have a choice.
Either I am not going to get my own water,
or you are going to get it for me.
What do you choose?!"

Easter Egg-stravaganza

Good times at the Pooles' this Easter weekend. The bunny came and boy, did he out-do himself! There were so many eggs hidden around the house - it was ridiculous!! We hunted, went for a great walk, ate lots of yummy food, found fairy beds hiding in the forest, learned to swordfight, and more...

Egg-cellent.

Easter Fun at Sunny Acres Park

It was a big weekend at Sunny Acres Park. Easter Bunny was scheduled to arrive, activities planned for both big and smaller kids, etc.
We did a parachute game and a scavenger hunt, which, once successfully completed, resulted in a paper bag full of Easter goodies.

The Easter Bunny did come to the park and although I knew it was not a real bunny, that he was a person dressed up in a costume, I decided
(quite prudently I believe)
that I wanted nothing to do with him.

Here's the back-story. Last year Easter events in the park were planned differently. The big costumed bunny guy showed up and all kids, big and small went for it, resulting in chocolate eggs flying all over the grass for the kids to then scramble to collect. Aside from the undemocratic nature of this plan, there was another problem...there is of course, a kid in the 'hood who has a serious allergy to chocolate, and whose mom was adamant that the random egginess and chaos of last year's event be re-thought. Protection from random chocolate was high on the list of planning priorities this year.

Now, far be it from me to bite the paw that feeds (chocolate eggs),
BUT, I must say that I was a bit disappointed that I got my game-face on
for a competitive hunt, which was not to be.

Not to worry. Grad and Grandad's Egg-stravaganza the next day was just what the bunny ordered...

Inner Egg

In getting dressed on Saturday morning I was channeling my Inner Easter Egg (as demonstrated by the dazzling variety of pattern I chose for my garb).

This dressing up and dancing was an important part of preparing for the 2nd annual Easter Egg challenge at Sunny Acres Park. You can't just show up.
You've got to be in it to win it.
I believe.

Street Art

Ben and I decided to invite the neighborhood kids to the
Easter Egg Hunting party at the park,
using chalk drawings.

Working From Home

Mom has a laptop that she uses for Working From Home.
She sometimes lets me do typing on the computer which I find incredibly absorbing.
Typing is only allowed after a hand-wash with soap.
(The reward of typing is greater than the discomfort of gagging at the hand-soap.)

I can E-Wase things and make a Space. Big or small space, what's your pleasure?
I like to switch between capital and small letters,
although capitals hold a special place in my heart.

Mom and I agree that we are at our most productive when
Working From Home.
