Face Time

I enjoy wearing band-aids, just for the fun of it.
Mom says we should buy stocks because band-aid's stuck on me, a lot of the time.

Much to be Thankful for.

This weekend it was Thanksgiving. Mom and Dad explained that it was a special time for thinking and talking about all of the great things in our lives that we are oh-so-lucky to have.
Like each other. (we did lots of extra hugging this weekend).

We also had lovely visits with family. The following pictures document one of those visits...with the Pooles'. Hilarity ensued.

I am thankful for new books about bunnies (from England.)

I am thankful that Gran and Grandad got me a new fairy costume. Or angel. Except fairies don't have haloes and angels don't have magic wands, so really it's a versatile costume. And very, very fun. I now face a quandary: to dress up as a cat on halloween as originally planned, or dress up as fairy/angel, also an attractive option.

I am thankful for trampolines as all children are (or should be)
and also for Uncles who are patient while I bounce.

Once again, patient Uncle wins awards
(as indicated by the loving, chin-in-hand gaze at said older and very cool Uncle)

We are also thankful to be moving to a wonderful new house,
and for the brand-spanking-new roof that will be over our heads.
Thanks.

A Walk in the Woods.

It has been raining for days, but this Sunday, mom and I decided that we were going to go for a walk in the woods, despite the rain and wind. We got bundled up and had a lovely time.

Among the creatures seen and heard in the woods:
-many groups of runners on the trails
-many dogs
-a hole that we think moles live in
-ducks
-chipmunks and red squirrels
-singing birds
-snails and slugs
-a couple of kids with a way better snack than mine (they had gummy bears, I had an apple. i told mom this wasn't fair for me.)

Just Us Girls

There have been lots of changes in my life lately and I have had a bit of a hard time getting used to everything. Last week mom said she had a surprise for 'just us girls' to help us relax.
(mom says we are pretty intense ladies and need to make time for relaxing).

After dinner, we started the preparations for our special spa time. We put the kettle on to boil (I helped fill it up with water). Then we went out to the garden, and I helped pick some fresh lavender. We brought it in and put the lavendar in a big bowl, then mom poured the boiling water over it to let it "steep".

While we waited, mom and I went into my room and decorated our special spa chairs with pillows and beautiful blankets. We both got our bathrobes on, and we put some relaxing music on to help get us 'in the mood' for a foot bath. We dimmed the lights, giggled a bit, then went to get the bowl of lovely-smelling lavender water.

While reclining, relaxing, soaking our feet and generally having a good time, we sang a few songs and talked about our day.

I had a great spending time with mom, just us girls. Mom says we need to always remember to take time out together to do special things.
I concur.

Ham.

Is what I am.

Ahoy Mateys!

For Granddad's birthday we went sailing on his boat "The Pearl".
It was a beautiful day and we got to see the air show from the water.
I got to steer the boat, which was a great treat!
Uncle Anton is a professional steer-er and showed me the ropes!

Best Friends.

Aidan is my best friend. We don't go to the same school anymore so we get together and play after school and on the weekends. Usually we like to go to the park or we visit at each other's house.

This week we had a lot of fun running, jumping, sharing my scooter, snacking (we both like eating, a lot) and just generally being kids.

Aidan and I are pretty good at sharing toys and taking turns. We are also good at telling each other when we are feeling upset about something (like if one of us is having trouble sharing or taking turns).

When Aidan asked me if he could take my special dog 'Taff' home with him, I said
"No Aidan. I'm afraid you can't".

Mom and dad laughed but I have no idea why.

I Spy (with my GIGANTIC eye...)

This weekend I discovered a magnifying glass. I looked at flies and other bugs, patterns on carpet...and mom took some pretty hilarious pictures. Fun times for this budding scientist and keen observer.

Go Wild!!

To celebrate my 'graduation' from daycare and the new adventure of Montessori starting next week, Mom and I decided to have a special day and GO WILD!

Animal adventures ensued...

The baboons were hilarious and only ripped off one piece of the car.

Style and Substance

Dad and I went for a run yesterday; I decided to dress up a bit for the occasion. On our adventure we found something that I had never seen before - chestnuts! This was very interesting and exciting for me, and I brought two home to show mommy.

Because I am a girl of both style and substance this was a perfect outing for me. While strutting my stuff, I was able to learn lots of new things about chestnuts, nuts in general and the different ways trees spread their 'seeds' (one of my faves are the maple 'helicopters' - I have a collection of these as well).

Stay tuned for more exciting adventures!

From the garden-files, For the garden-philes

Bee-haven is one of my new faves.
We got our first ripe tomato from our little garden yesterday and I ate
The. Whole. Thing.
in about 2 minutes flat.

Al Bundy would be proud.

This is the very first week that I am attending school
wearing "big girl underwear"!
This is a BIG deal.

Mom says that sometimes learning new things is a bit tricky,
but I just need to keep trying. She says I'm doing a great job.
I told mom that I learn new things every day and
yesterday, I learned that peeing in the potty at school
is not scary.

I also told mom that soon I will be a big woman with big boobies,
and then I will pee in the potty every time.

(mom says for the sake of my social life, she hopes I am potty trained
BEFORE becoming a big woman!)
