Holiday Hooplah ~ 2010 (part 3 of 4)

Part 3...Our House

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

"Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house...

We had a fun Christmas Eve, just Us3. I was very excited, so excited that my usual insatiable appetite was curbed and early in the evening I had a tummy ache from all the anticipation. But there was lots to distract me ...

We got our stockings all ready for Santa
(stockings, the "before" picture)

Played some games and pretended to be listening for reindeer.

We had a nice dinner, checked NORAD online to monitor Santa's progress around the world and got suited up for our Christmas Eve walk through the neighborhood.

On our walk, we looked at the lights on the houses, strolled by the big kids playing hockey on the rink at the park, walked down a small side-street...

...And what to my wondering eyes did appear...?

SANTA!
Real Santa was walking around our neighborhood with sleigh-bells ringing, a big red sack and candy canes that he was giving out door to door! It was just too much. We had just confirmed that Santa was in South Africa but here he was, in front of me. I asked why he was here so early and he said this is a special neighborhood and he wanted to spend a bit of time here. Amazing. He said he had parked the sleigh 'round the corner, but you know Christmas is full of magic and when we went 'round that corner...the sleigh wasn't there!

Speaking of magic, I have been thinking hard about Santa and so I asked mom the other day whether Santa will be dead one day like real people. She paused a moment, then answered that no, Santa is magic, he is an elf and so even though he is old he will not die like a real person.
I just thought I would check.

When we got home, we set out snacks and drinks for Santa and the reindeer on the special plate and cup I got from my gran and grandad.

Then I got to open one present before going to bed.

On Christmas morning , we came down and saw...

Stockings and the tree with lots of presents!
(the "after" picture)

We had Christmas morning champers and OJ in memory
of my great-grandpa.

And we had some Christmas morning breakfast to soak up the champagne!

Then we got to the important business of opening presents!!

There were even presents from Pappy and Jammie that had come in mysteriously wrapped packages through the mail...

It was a lot of fun, and then...
it was over.

(but not for long...Part 4 of 4 was soon to come.)

Holiday Hooplah ~ 2010 (part 2 of 4)

We came home exhausted from a fun and present-filled sleepover in Toronto at the Pooles'. Whew.
As soon as we got home, mom went into action mode - cleaning, vacuuming, wrapping and cooking - to prepare for Nan and Darcy's Christmas dinner visit.

Next stop...
Christmas dinner with Nan & Darcy, and Us 3...

First stop...

Christmas with the Pooles'...

Even if it's Christmas, and it's cute...
you should still say "no" to crack!

Happy 1st Birthday Mattea Melinda!

We had fun visiting with Auntie K and baby Mattea who is not a baby anymore - she is 1 year old! Hard to believe. Makes the rest of us feel rather old (like me, I am almost 4!).
We love you very much Mattea Melinda!!

Mom and Mattea took turns making squinty-eyed faces.

I'm a Beast for a Feast!

Everyone who knows me, knows I like to eat.
So imagine, just imagine my excitement this morning as I
dressed in my carefully pre-selected outfit
in preparation for today's
Seasonal Feast at Montessori school!

I wore a new Christmas-y outfit from Grandma (yay BVO!)
my jingle bells and shiny clips in my hair.
Mom let me pick out one of HER bracelets to wear!
Boy, was I ever fancy and beautiful.

Flashback - December 2009

It has been a whole year since last December.
Flashing back to last year at this time...

We joined many admirers in welcoming Mattea Melinda into this wacky world...

We embarked on a month (not twelve days!) of Christmas cheer. It was the first Christmas that I really "got it", resulting in lots of excitement (and moments of being overwhelmed by the sheer number of celebrations over the course of a few weeks).

My first Christmas morning at our house, and the start of
our own little family's traditions.

This season is promising to be just as packed and fun and full of love as last year.
The tree is up, there are packages starting to pile up underneath...it's December folks. Here we go...
