Okay Tokay

Ribbit and Croak, my aquatic frogs are no longer.  After 1 year and 4 months, they 'croaked', not at the same time, but in quick succession.

Mixed emotions ensue because I have been asking for a gecko for 1 year and 3 months, but was told I could have only one pet at a time.

Today I got my gecko.  His/her name is Tokay.  S/he is a crested gecko and is about 1 month old.  If I take good care of him/her, s/he will live to be up to 15 years old.  There is now a lifespan face off between Tokay and the python down the hall.

For the record, I have the best mom in the whole world, because I am convinced that I will be able to take good care of Tokay (but if I don't, in the long run, I know mom will make sure Tokay has a good habitat including food and water.)

Mom says that although Tokay is cute, it is another living thing she needs to keep alive.  I'm going to work really hard so that mom is not the only one keeping him/her alive...I promise!

March Broke

This year I had a real break from the school routine during March Break - vegging out at Grandma and Grandpa's house, playing computer games with Uncle TJ and teaching Grandma how to use her new tablet.
All 'screen time' rules were out the window...and there was nothing mom or dad could do about it!

Snow Day! (for buses anyways)

Mom and I tromped to school a couple of weeks ago through a huge amount of fresh snow.

Buses were cancelled that day (but school was still on - boooo), so we decided to take the camera for our
winter wonderland walk to school.

Our trip to "The Dominicans"

Me on the (8 hours delayed) airplane!
I am a trooper of a traveller.  Arrived at our resort at 4:30am!

Mom on the balcony of our room on day 1.

At the beach on our first day!

Mom and I at breakfast.

On our way to the lookout point.

Swimming in the ocean with Mom.

The little birds that drank a LOT of the (alcoholic?) drinks by the side of the pool.

Poolside, jammin' out to iPod tunes with Dad.

Hey Shorties, it's My 6th Birthday (see how tall I am?!)

Wow.  6 Years old!  This is getting serious.

I am 1 inch shy of 4 feet tall (still weigh only 43 pounds).   I just keep going up and up.  I am in Grade 1.  I am learning to read in French and English.  I do gymnastics, and I like snorkelling in pools only.  I love music and drawing.  And bugs.  I like digging in dirt, playing with worms, catching frogs and putting them in habitats I make for them (then I let them go).  I love looking at things under one of my two microscopes.
I am silly.  I like roughhousing with Dad.  I love to snuggle - either parent (or both at the same time) - will do.  I think about the world in a big way.  A global way.  I care a lot about protecting the environment and saving animal habitat.  I am a really good friend.  I think about others' feelings and although I am sometimes bossy, I know what's fair and that it applies to me, too.
I am a really big kid.

Birthday morning, opening - yep - more presents!

Me and my crazy Dad on my birthday.

Mom says when she was little, Nan used to tell her she was going to put stacks of heavy books on her head to stop her from getting any taller.

I don't think that would work on me.

My 6-candled cake!

Happy New Year - Welcome to 2013!

New Year's Eve this year included fireworks, Sparkles in the Park, a carousel ride at night time with all the lights and music.  Oh, and tiaras and can-can skirts just for fun!

Christmas 2012

Life has been busy the past couple of months...starting with Christmas celebrations at the Pooles', at home, at Nan's and finally at the Posluns-Burns household! Whew!

First stop - Pooles' Place (right before Christmas):

Where's Waldo?
Uncle Anton and I want to know!
My present is going to be thiiiiiis big!
Grandad...
Gran!

Dad with his new toy bug.

Next stop...Christmas at home!

Me and mom checking out stockings on Christmas morning.

Ooooh, got something!!  Santa was definitely here!

Opening my big parcel from Santa...
How did he know I wanted Husky dogs avec sleigh?

After breakfast at home we packed up and headed to Nan and Darcy's house to see Aunt Maggie &; Uncle Dave before they headed out.  More presents...

Read some new books with Nan

Brought my sled-dogs with me...
...so I could show my cousins, who came for Christmas dinner.
Here's me with a couple of those red-haired cuzzies!
Then after dinner it was time to pack up and head further north to see Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle TJ...and another Christmas celebration the next morning (more presents).

Poor mom was recovering from a very bad flu, but she hung in there!

Grandma and Grandpa won the prize this year (not that there's a contest!)
for the biggest wrapped present with my name on it.

It was a giant, pink bean-bag chair for my play room.  Nice!

As always, the holidays were full of busy-ness, love, laughter and of course...presents!!
