I took these pictures all by myself. I cruised the main floor for suitable photograph subjects.
I am pleased with the outcome.

Graduation Day!

Me getting ready to go to graduation.

Last week my classmates and I had our graduation ceremony. It was very special.
We had some of our artwork hung around the gym and decorations on the stage. Each child at Montessori graduates each year and their accomplishments are recognized.

The lights were dimmed and we entered the gym in a procession, each holding an illuminated candle (disappointingly, not real flame) and singing our first song, "Light a Candle for Peace". This song is now a tradition at the annual grad ceremony. This song got us onto the stage, where some of us were a bit nervous, but mostly excited. All us kids were scanning the audience to find our loved ones and, when we found them, positively beaming with pride. Our parents and loved ones beamed right back! Then we were fine, and ready to continue singing.

We regrouped and sang "Hello to All the Children of the World", complete with greetings in 7 languages and arm actions. It was spectacular.
For our final number, Miss Caroline our Musikgarten teacher led us in a rousing renditon of "I Hear the Mill Wheel (tika tika taka)" with teachers playing backup on the sticks.
You should have heard the applause.

After the songs, we filed off the stage and waited for our names to be called so we could go up on stage to receive our certificates. This was a proud moment as we got handshakes and hugs from our teachers, and whispered words of encouragement. Our parents kept right on beaming. As we came off the stage with our certificates (I just LOVE saying this word), which were thoughtfully and practically placed in page protectors, we ran toward the open arms and misty eyes of our parents.
Kisses were planted and squeezes were had all round.
What a great morning, and end to a wonderful first year of Montessori.

Ms. Glynis speaking to the audience before our entrance procession.

Each child had their bodies traced and then we painted ourselves. This was a beautiful decoration along the side of the gym

Here is mine.

Singing "Light a Candle for Peace" - I am on the far right.
